Well, I lied. I said I would never run another marathon after Grandma's Marathon in Duluth in 2009. Here's my next one....
However, it's not just mine. I have friends that are just as crazy as I am! :) I have been teaching Run Club for the Y this summer and a few members are training with me for Mankato. Another friend is running this race but she has been coming out with us on our long runs. I am trying a few new things this time around in hopes that my experience is more enjoyable! Our training program is linked at the bottom.
1. Less running days. Last time around, I felt completely drained after 12 weeks of training. I didn't do enough cross-training and weight lifting.
2. More cross-training and weight lifting!
3. Faster shorter runs and slower longer runs! Last stab at training, I ran everything at the same pace. Bad news.
4. Long runs during the week. One thing I despise about marathon training is being gone most of a Saturday morning out on a long run, coming home and being exhausted the rest of the weekend. We moved the long runs to Thursday mornings in hopes that our weekends will be fun and energy filled! :)
Mankato, here we come!

Heck yeah!!! I knew you'd do another one and you're totally going to OWN it! Love your training schedule and think you're being really smart about your training. Good luck! I'm so not ready to even think about 26.2 but I'll be cheering you on the whole way!
